Days of You and Me: Day 12, Purple Stroll

On Friday, Annabelle and I drove into the city to visit an art museum and go on our “color the day” walk.  For this “day of you and me” I brought along both of our cameras so that whenever we spotted the color purple, we could stop and photograph what we saw.

While taking our purple stroll, I borrowed the line from Sue Williams’ I Went Walking “What did you see?”

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw purple flowers!

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw a little girl in a purple dress.

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw a little girl in a purple dress chewing a purple piece of gum.  (um, yes, I let her chew gum . . . it’s one of those ‘pick your battles’ situations)

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw a man wearing a purple shirt.

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw a man wearing a purple shirt stopping to look at a map.

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw a big red city bus with purple monuments.

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw mamma taking pictures.

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw me.  Snap!

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw a little girl in a purple dress staring back at me . . .

again . . .

and then . . .

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

I saw a mirrored path . . .

with all sorts of . . .

me!

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

A picture of purple mountains, a tree, and the sky,

a little white cottage with purple shade and shadows,

and then . . . I saw my friend Aryana!  We saw real Spanish armor . . . with hearts!

and I got to hold it!  See!

I went walking.  “What did you see?”

Mamma: “I see a tired little girl who is very much in need of a nap.”

And so our day at the museum came to a close.  It was time to go walking yet again; this time to the car where a tired little girl in a purple dress could take a long, long nap on the car ride home.

Wonderful! There is color everywhere… how heart-lifting and rejeuvenating it is to actually see it, notice it, and celebrate it!

My favorite Dr. Suess book has a color theme to it: My Many Colored Days. It is all about moods and changing emotions, related to color.

Thanks for taking us on your stroll!

Hi Jessica, thanks for that lovely post. And wonderful pictures too. Annabelle is so cute. You’ve captured the mood so perfectly. Yes, we need to spend more time absorbing the amount of beauty that is all around us. Sometimes we make our lives so hectic that we forget to savor the simple pleasures of life. Thanks for reminding us to slow down and enjoy life.

Lovely post!

one of the best parts about being home is catching up on this series. your little girl is very blessed to have these days with you, and to have them documented is even more amazing. i know i have said this a million times but you really do inspire me.

hope the books arrived?
