Days of You and Me: Day 8, Daughters and Dolls

On the 8th day of our “days of you and me,” I watched Annabelle give her baby dolls a bath; I noticed how much she enjoyed washing them, rinsing and drying them, combing their hair, and then washing their clothes. Watching Annabelle’s love for her “babies” made me think about how much I(‘ve) love(d) her and how much it has meant to me to have her as my daughter.

One of my husband and my favorite songs is “Daughters” by John Mayer.  For today’s post, I’ve included the lyrics to “Daughters” along with the photographs of Annabelle bathing her dolls.

“Daughters”

I know a girl she puts the color inside of my world

She’s just like a maze, where all of the walls all continually change

And I’ve done all I can to stand on the the steps, with my heart in my hands

Now I started to think maybe it’s got nothinging to do with me

Fathers be good to your daughters

Daughters will love like you do

Girls become lovers, who turn into mothers

So mothers be good to your daughters too

Oh, Boys you can break find out how much they can take

Boys will be strong, boys soldier on but
Boys would be gone without warmth of a womans good good heart

On behalf of every man looking out for every girl

You are the God and the weight of the world

So fathers be good to your daughters

Daughters will love like you do

Girls become lovers who turn into mothers

So mothers be good to your daughters too . . .
