One day last week it occurred to me that Valentine’s Day was just around the corner. For the first time ever, I made up my mind that I, and Annabelle too, would sit down to craft our very own Valetines for our friends and loved ones. Being that I am not terribly crafty but am able to follow instructions, I decided to gather ideas from Family Fun Magazine and take a peak at Michael’s to see what kinds of do-it-yourself Valentines we could make. Below are a few pictures of what we made:

Above: We traced Annabelle’s hands onto cardstock (she says it tickles =) and cut the tracings out to create Valentines that proclaim, “You deserve a hand.” Not only was it fun to craft this Valentine but I am sure that Annabelle’s grandma and nanna are going to love receiving a tracing of her hands. Thank goodness to Family Fun Magazine for this one!
Also pictured are foam heart and foam doily valentines that we laced together and decorated. Annabelle placed stickers onto the heart and used glitter glue to make swirls and dots, while I used the glitter pen to write lovey words.

A closeup of the “You deserve a hand!” Valentine.

and last, but certainly not least, we wrote cute pencil related sayings onto cardstock and pasted them around the tips of pencils. Again, we were inspired by Family Fun Magazine’s suggestions; what we wrote: “You’ve got the write stuff Valentine,” and “Write on Valentine.”
Not pictured here but what we also created were stamped notecards with various images from a stamping kit that Annabelle received as a Christmas present. Some of my cheesier and delightful sayings for these cards included: “I love Moo,” which accompanied a stamped and colored pencil image of a cow, and “Got nectar?” which I wrote on the back of a notecard with stamps of bees hovering over flowers.
Oh, and Annabelle’s favorite part of making Valentines?

covering herself with stickers, of course!

Oh my golly that’s so sweet! I love your sayings! I give piano lessons to a little girl who also loves stickers. Such a simple thing that is so delightful for kids! Very cute. If I could, I think I’d wear stickers too.
Hopealso, my Annabelle is addicted to stickers; it has gotten to the point where I find stickers everywhere (on appliances, furniture, the floor, our cat . . .). I like stickers as much as the next person, but not so much that I want our home decked out in them. So now I encourage her to deck herself out in stickers. =)
great craft ideas! and CUTE! photo.
Thanks Cyndi, though I can’t take credit for the cuteness. That’s all Annabelle.
