“Too many, too soon.” This is the slogan for the Green Our Vaccines Rally lead by Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy yesterday, June 4, on the National Capital.
The rally set out to raise awareness about the toxins in children’s vaccines, which many parents of autistic children believe are responsible for bringing on their child’s autistic symptoms. Toxins thought to cause autistic symptoms include thimerosal, a mercury based preservative used in vaccines. To learn what shots still contain mercury, click here.
The Green Our Vaccines rally also calls upon our country’s legislatures to ensure that our children receive a safer vaccine supply and schedule. Check out “Talk About Curing Autism” to learn more about safe vaccines and vaccination schedules.
Our family’s stance has been to space out vaccinations, allowing one vaccine per visit. My husband and I intend to read Robert Sears, M.D.’s The Vaccine Book, as well as other research about vaccinations (our other sources are to be determined). What I will say about vaccinating our daughter is that we have paused in our decision making process. My husband asked me, “Is it more dangerous not to vaccine?” From what I know, European children do not receive all the vaccinations that our children in the U.S. do. Then my husband commented, “Well, even if there isn’t causation shown between vaccines and autism, but there is a high correlation, there is still the risk.”
While standing and listening to the Green Our Vaccines panel of speakers, including Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, I observed the crowd of 8, 000 people. Parents, siblings, family, and friends of children and adults with autism held signs with photographs showing children before and after their vaccines (also, before and after they were diagnosed with autism). Jenny said to these families, “Today I am not a celebrity. I am a parent of a child who had autism.” She then asked the families to turn and face the media, to hold their signs high, and stand with her to ask for more research and legislation to protect our children from potentially harmful medicine. Below are pictures from the rally:

I highly recommend The Vaccine Book. There are other great books out there too. It’s not just the concern for autism, but also all the auto-immune diseases that several in the medical profession, believe stem from the attack on such young immune systems. In just 13 years the amount of vaccines has tripled. My son is 13 and my daughter 17months. Wish I was at the rally…thanks for sharing.

Some possible good news — I read in a recent article on vaccines in “Time” magazine that thimerosal has not been used for vaccines since 2001, and that the rates of autism diagnosed in 8-year-olds has not dropped in that time. While it is sad that the rates haven’t dropped, it looks like that particular suspect ingredient might not be a cause for concern.

Megan, what Time article did you read? I am curious for my own research.
In Robert Sears’ The Vaccine Book, he cites a study done by D.A. Geier and M.R. Geier in the 2006 Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, and writes: “We know that the rate of autism has increased dramatically over the past decade or so . . . . Some studies do show a rise in autism starting when the number of vaccines containing mercury was increased in the early 1990s, as well as a decrease in the past few years now that mercury has been removed from vaccines.”
Thimiserol, or mercury, is still an issue because it is in some brands of the flu shot and some tetanus shots. At the same time, parents can now request mercury free shots for their children.
I have not read the Times article that you point to Megan, but based on Geier’s research, it seems that the rates of autism have dropped since mercury was removed from many vaccines.
That particular suspect ingredient, MERCURY, is a cause for concern. The good news is that mercury is no longer in many vaccinations; still parents need to educate themselves about the ingredients in vaccinations and ask their doctors what brand the vaccine is (The Vaccine Book lists the brands with trace amounts of mercury and the full 25 micro-gram dose of mercury).
I think the safe questions to ask are, “What am I putting into my child? What are the risks involved?”
