Weak diapers by Seventh Generation

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Sorry to have to say this, but I am not a happy mama when it comes to Seventh Generation chlorine free diapers.   However, the benefits for the environment available to green parents who choose these diapers are many–click here to read.  In our experience with them, the new thinner model is too thin.  The diapers leak and I’ve gone through half a dozen in the last two days not because of a needed change but because the tabs rip too easily.  It’s not fun to wake up in the morning next to a baby with a torn diaper.  Seventh Generation, this green mama is asking you–please improve these disposable diapers!  While we normally use g Diapers in the daytime, we prefer environmentally friendly disposables for night time and travel.

Green Mama has moved on . . . in a green way

Friday, August 24th, 2007

So, green mama has moved!  Not in the virtual world, but in the world of paper and plastic and mortgages.   We have moved to a planned community where man, roads, and our consumerism byproducts blend in with nature (thanks to a pretty strict town association).  We love the greenery, listening to crickets at night, and being a far distance from the glow of street lights.  Some of the pleasant surprise while moving include a shorter commute for the hubby, which means perks for the environment and his heart: he biked to work this week!  Also, our grocery store is about a quarter mile from our house so we take the stroller over at night and load it up with what we need.  Tonight we grabbed pho at the same shopping center and enjoyed a nice walk through the woods.  It’s sort of like living in the city and yet being in a very nature friendly suburb.   Another surprise to me was listening to my husband express his desire to purchase ecofriendly lightbulbs for our new place.

As we make changes and breathe life into our house, I’ll post some pictures, but for now, it’s bare bones, unpacked, and liveable.   Anyway, just thought I’d let folks know where I’ve been off to.  I plan to write more real soon.
